      Reaching out new Millennials

Our Prison Dawa volunteer workers have been working hard for last 35+ years to serve the need of Muslims inmates across USA on regular basis. The average ages of current volunteers range from 50 to 85. There is one thing we are missing (among many others), is you.   "The Millennial", who really are into many social and volunteer works these days as we enter into new era of "Life Beyond textbooks, spiritual and selfish professional goals".   These social / community works, among many others which you may be involved currently, do strengthen and preserve the social fabric of our community.  After looking at short documentary video above (and other related by CNN in recent past) if your interest is piqued to volunteer for our organization, contact us in contact Form below and one of our coordinators will get in touch with you to help you get orientated, certified, and registered to volunteer for one Saturday of a month. You will be paired with a veteran in nearby community to bring the ease for you.

What we do

A Team of Volunteers who visit Prisons at least once  a month.

With over 50 + active volunteer members who have been visiting prisons for past 35+ years with utmost dedication. Since volunteers are paired, this allows us to make sure that there is consistency so there is always one or two volunteer who show up on that schedule time, once a month, to provide the service which is being expected by Muslim Prison inmates as well as their non-muslim guests. This brights up their day and it affects their personality in positive way.

Structured well prepared lectures directed towards spiritual as well as personal growth

We work hard to ensure that our Taleem (the titled name approved in Texas Prisons), is kept short so that there is room for Q&A, and one prayer in congregation which is normally lead by one of the inmate who is chosen Imam by within the inmate community.

Educational material

Our Material (Quran, Hadit, Salah Books, DVDs and CDS) is  pre screened so that it is from an approved vendor or resources at respective Islamic centers.  This way inmates' learning is simple and easy without getting into advanced level issues of FIQH.

                                           Our days of inclusion

In Northside of Houston, we have couple unique programs which are consistent for a long time. Both are followed by light breakfast and can be copied in other centers so that a core group is formed to know each other better while enhancing knowledge of quran on weekly basis in group study setting where we learn rules of tajweed as well as meanings and background of ayahs of quran:-

 (1) Every Saturday after Faj'r at Masjid Al Salaam (Campions) on Old Louetta in northwest Houston.
(2) Every Sunday morning at Masjid Bilal on Adel Road in north.
